Pan-African Science and Engineering Fair
For the first time, PARC will host the Pan-African Science and Engineering Fair. This event, sponsored by Google, celebrates the creativity and innovation of African young scientists, engineers, and innovators. The fair brings together participants from all over Africa to showcase their research, projects, and inventions in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The event allows participants to network, share knowledge, and collaborate on future projects aimed to developing technological innovations that will propel the African continent into the fifth industrial revolution. AgTech, HealthTech, RetailTech, and LogTech are the subthemes of this year competition.
Teams must use the human-centered approach of Design Thinking to design or create a new service or product. Alternatively, if teams choose to redesign or build an existing system or product, they should use the Whole System & Life Cycle Thinking sustainable design approach. Teams that have chosen to program a device as part of their model have the option of using sponsored MathWorks software for free.
All the teams have to register before July 1st 2023
Challenge Deliverables
Category 1: AgTech
AgTech is the application of technology to agriculture. The goal of this category is to develop solutions that address the challenges facing African agriculture. A wide range of possibilities are available to improve the African agricultural industry through technology.
Category 2: HealthTech
HealthTech is the application of technology to healthcare. The goal of this category is to develop solutions that address the health challenges facing the African continent.
Category 3: RetailTech
RetailTech is the application of technology to retail. The goal of this category is to develop solutions that address the challenges facing African retailers. In RetailTech, there are numerous robotics, technology, and scientific project ideas that can enhance and optimize various aspects of the retail industry.
Category 4: LogTech
LogTech is the application of technology to logistics. The goal of this category is to develop solutions that address the challenges facing African logistics.
- The team should have a maximum of 5 members and a minimum of 2. They should be in hight school.
- Submit the Design Thinking process or the Whole System & Life Cycle Thinking process you did.
- Create a poster (in French or English) to present at PARC
- Make a 5 to 7 minute presentation (in French or English) to present to PARC.
- All the teams have to register before July 1st 2023 through this link : parcrobotics.org/fair
- L'équipe doit être composée d'un maximum de 5 membres et d'un minimum de 2. Ils doivent être au lycée.
- Soumettez le processus de Design Thinking ou le processus Whole System & Life Cycle Thinking que vous avez suivi.
- Créer une affiche (en français ou en anglais) pour présenter au PARC
- Faire une présentation de 5 à 7 minutes (en français ou en anglais) à présenter au PARC.
